The potent atmosphere of Alasdair Gray’s classic novel lingers for years after reading and it was this atmosphere that all of the creative team wanted to communicate. The novel travels from a fictional dystopian city to post-war Glasgow documentary to science fiction to an alternative 1970s reality in a time of political upheaval.

The set tries hard to keep up, limiting the scenic language to the accumulation of line, in homage to Alasdair Gray’s own extraordinary line drawing.
