A Plague on both your Houses

Devised by the company

National Youth Theatre (1996)

Directed by Pete Brooks

Lighting design by Nigel Edwards

Projection design by Caroline Rye

A deconstructed Romeo and Juliet set in a shrapnel-scarred Verona.

Five scenic elements provided massive moving surfaces for receiving projection as well as creating by turns a piazza, an alley full of embracing lovers, a tryptych and a tomb.

“This devised multi-media piece is ground breaking for the NYT…there is genuine passion and intelligence at work here. “
